How to Donate
Humbercrest United Church is supported by members, adherents, and friends who, through regular giving throughout the year, provide most of the money necessary to carry out our ministries. These regular givings go to support two major funds, an OPERATING FUND which meets the day-to-day expenses of our ministry and a MISSION AND SERVICE FUND, which contributes to the United Church of Canada’s world-wide mission work.
Humbercrest United Church is a registered and CRA-approved charity that will issue donor receipts for tax purposes. You may click this link to understand our church activities and finances as annually filed with the Canada Revenue Agency www.cra.gc.ca/donors
Many of those who give regularly to Humbercrest also make donations on special occasions, and to help meet emergent needs that often occur in the maintenance of our large, landmark building. For these gifts, Humbercrest has established a number of Funds to which gifts, bequests, and benefactions can be directed.
The major funds are: The HERITAGE FUND, the earnings of which contribute to the operating fund, the MEMORIAL BURSURY FUND which is used to support students studying for the ministry, and the PROVIDENT FUND which will receive gifts of Canadian stocks, bonds, other securities which are eligible for enhanced tax deduction treatment. If these gifts are not directed, the church council makes recommendations to the Trustees regarding their use. The BEQUEST AND BENEFACTIONS FUND is managed similarly to the Provident Fund, but receives gifts bequeathed as part of an estate.
