“When a Star is shining over eastern hills, When the air is silent, and the clamour stills, When the night is waiting, and the old hopes rise, Then the time has ripened and the heart grows wise.” When a Star is Shining, Voices United
Welcome to the season of Epiphany! This is the liturgical season that marks the Magi’s arrival to greet the baby Jesus. The Magi, we are told, followed a brilliant star that lit their way as they sought out the baby. This star acted not only as a beacon to them, but is a symbol to all of us of the light that is born into our world in the birth of Jesus, a light that continues to shine after all the Christmas decorations have been put away and the presents unwrapped. It is a light that continues to shine even in these dark days of winter, in the dark days when our world is less than it can be, in the darkness of our own anxieties and fears about the economy, personal concerns, through all of those other pressures that might be bearing down on you today. Through it all, this light of Christ shines, bringing us hope, reminding us that we are loved and not alone.
We hope through winter’s darkness you will not lose sight of this light of Christ, alive and bright in our world, and that you will embrace opportunities to help to reflect that light for others. Join us for worship as the clamour stills after the Christmas and New Years rush, and find that light of peace and hope that is shining bright for you this Epiphany season!
